‘Haul‘ is Amazon.com’s newly launched site, where everything is under twenty dollars. Strictly speaking, Haul is not a separate website but a new section on the existing site. You can find it by typing ‘haul’ into the search bar:
Currently available through the US (Amazon.com) website, Haul allows shoppers to download the mobile app and browse a catalog of lower-cost unbranded items. Shipping is only free if the customer spends $25 or more, and the return period is just 15 days as opposed to 30 days when items are ordered from the regular Amazon.com webpages.
Why has Amazon launched Haul?
According to Amazon’s data, shoppers like buying generic/unbranded products because they generally cost less than their branded equivalents. This makes sense because Amazon is flooded with ‘brands’ that don’t mean anything to consumers, brands that have zero brand recognition. And, while shoppers will readily pay more for brands they know, they are not as ready to do the same for a brand they’ve never heard of.
Who can sell on Haul?
Haul is still in its infancy; sellers can only list on Haul if Amazon invites them. At this time, only a small proportion of sellers have been invited.
How will Haul affect regular Amazon sellers?
It’s important to point out that customers won’t be abandoning the main Amazon site in favor of the Haul section. Instead, they might use it alongside the main site and only for certain products. The Haul catalog is limited to cheaper types of products with longer shipping times, and most regular sellers will probably see no difference in sales volume due to Haul’s launch.
